The following schedule demonstrates the typical sequence of events from registration to the successful completion of a course from a student’s perspective.

1. Registration (at any time)

  • Fill in registration form
  • Attach copies of identity document + matric certificate (or alternative documents)

2. Receipt of Registration (within 5 working days)

Sent off from SASPS:

  • Letter of receipt + (if applicable) request for additional information/documents
  • Invoice with fees for registration + learning material,  examination/assignment

3. Contacting SASPS (at any time)

  • Sending requested additional information/documents (if applicable)
  • Payment on invoice

4. Confirmation of Registration (within 5 working days after receipt of payment)

Sent off from SASPS:

  • Letter of confirmation of payment + (if applicable) receipt additional infos/docs

5. Learning Material

Sent off from SASPS:

  • Welcome pack
  • Study guide
  • Tutor schedule
  • Course notes.
  • Student schedule (with dates for further study material, revision lecture + examination)

6. Self-assessment Paper (7 weeks before examination/assignment submission date)

Sent off from SASPS:

  • Paper for self-assessment
  • Model answers

7. Revision Paper (5 weeks before examination/assignment submission date)

Sent off from SASPS:

  • Revision paper with multiple choice questions
  • Invoice for revision lecture, if applicable sent off on commencement of each course (only applicable to payment option 2).

8. Payment on invoice

  • Payment for each revision lecture (optional) to be made 4 weeks in advance to secure position.
  • Payment for each examination / assignment to be made 4 weeks in advance to secure position

9. Further Material (3 weeks before examination/assignment submission date)

Sent off from SASPS:

9.1 Examination Student

  • Answers to revision paper
  • Last examination paper (to be discussed at revision lecture)
  • Reminder on revision lecture (if applicable) + examination (date, location, contact details, reminder that identity document must be carried for identification)

9.2 Assignment Student

  • Answers to revision paper
  • Reminder of revision lecture (if applicable)
  • Reminder on submission deadline

10. Examination / Assignment

  • Students write exam as advised; or

11. Assignment

  • Dispatched from SASPS at least one week prior to submission date, electronically or via hard copy if so chosen
  • Students write assignments as advised

12. Information on result(s)

Released by SASPS:

  • Result (date of re-write/submission for new assignment, if applicable)
  • Application form for re-marking (if applicable)
  • Schedule of further dates for other courses already registered for (if applicable)

13. The South African School of Paralegal Studies Short Course non-NQF completion certificates/

The South African School of Paralegal Studies Senior Paralegal or Commercial Law non-NQF completion certificate

  • Sent off within 4 weeks after 12. with
  • Academic record
  • Registration form for further courses (if applicable)
